It is a masterpiece of traditional Indian handloom, with its distinct blurred-boundary patterns created through an intricate tie-and-dye weaving process. The pallu is typically heavily detailed and vibrant, showcasing dense Ikat patterns or rich zari borders that drastically contrast with the main body. It is known as Pochampally Ikat. It is made from fabrics of pure cotton and pure silk, preferred for weddings, festivals, and formal events.

The blouse usually matches the dominant color of the pallu or border rather than the main body, creating a balanced, color-blocked aesthetic.

It requires gentle care, and dry cleaning is highly recommended for silk variants to preserve the dye and zari integrity.
